The author
Michael Geiger graduated as economist from the University of Würzburg, Germany in 2001 (Dipl.-Volkswirt). Since 2002 he is an external Ph.D. student at the Chair for Monetary Policy and International Economics in Würzburg. As part of the Ph.D. he lived and researched in Beijing, China from 2002 to 2004. Since 2004, he has been working for the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland in several responsibilities at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint UN and WTO agency. He is proficient in Chinese.
